USED POWER PLANTS
Currently the situation with power plants in Eastern Europe is simply crazy,” shakes the head Josef Terlecki Zaniewicz, founder and CEO of MEC TERZA. “Sure, it is now possible to earn quick money in Eastern Europe’s power generation sector. A literally overheated situation, in my opinion, will burst in at least two years. Then, almost certainly it will move into Ukraine, where the whole dance would start from scratch again.”
Gloomy forecasts is making the expert for the power industry. But on closer examination it is really quite fishy in this area of Europe. “The manufacturing industry needs more energy today than ever for their own needs. For example, the paper industry, which needs electricity and steam for production process. The quantities needed here are impossible to deliver with so-called clean energy production – because there is simply a great lack of the appropriate infrastructure and policy framework.
So once again there only remains the access to familiar energy suppliers. “One of our projects is a Slovenian paper mill. The plant, a combined gas and steam turbine, needed renovation long ago. But enormous investments are necessary.” There are very little chances to get any funding in this case, notices Terlecki, because they “are administratively unobtainable and are only applied to new plants. In this specific case it is all but impossible.”
To relieve the turbine, which is operated far beyond the specification allows, for some time the paper mill purchases electricity for the production. This is expensive and runs counter to the requirement of remaining competitive by low prices of end products. A vicious circle, seemingly without solution.
Self defined “single player” Terlecki has solved the dilemma of competitive pressure and technical shortcomings with an unique concept: Outsourced Industrial Power Plant.
Through barter or purchase of an used turbine can be achieved efficiency, which allows to feed the now emerging surplus of electricity into the national grid, instead of purchasing electricity. In this case Slovenian company would be expected to get back into the profit zone within a short time, Terlecki is convinced.
Profitability by increasing the efficiency
With his convincing performance confronts Terlecki the depletion in the power generation.
His company offers used plants, so gas turbines, steam turbines, cogeneration power plants, gas-and steam-process plants, micro-turbines (30-200 kW), sewage treatment plants, steam boilers and spare parts for gas and steam turbines, compressors, pumps, electric switchgears, electrical control- and automation systems.
Another important part of his portfolio is the comprehensive improvement / optimization of components by CFD (computer fluid dynamics) and FEM (component optimization, structural analysis) systems. Josef Terlecki-Zaniewicz has more than 30 years professional experience in project and sales management, power plant and steam turbine technologies.
To cover all these technical areas of planning, production and delivery, MEC TERZA cooperates with competent partners. The market knowledge, customer sophistication and the large network of contacts in CEE enables MEC TERZA & Partners to successfully carry out efficiency improvement and upgrading of power plants.
